About Flatbard
Flatbard is an independent magazine about Statamic. It publishes articles on Statamic releases, the changes behind them, and what they mean for the sites you build, along with more than 300 curated links from the community.
How it started
Before Statamic, I built sites with WordPress, ExpressionEngine, Contao, Craft, and Kirby, and I had tried Statamic a few times along the way. A podcast made it stick. In September 2022, I talked to Jack McDade about ten years of Statamic for CraftEntries, my podcast about Craft CMS. Afterward, I started building with Statamic for real.
Flatbard began as my test project. The name came in spring 2023. Anything with “Statamic” in it felt wrong, and so did mashups like “Laramic.” Flatbard stuck: flat files, and a bard who tells the stories of Statamic and Laravel. A few months later, I took on my first Statamic client project, and since 2024 I’ve been a Statamic Partner. For a long time, Flatbard itself stayed a small collection of links, online some months and offline in others. In 2026, it turned into what it is now.
How I write
Every article lists its sources at the end: release notes, pull requests, documentation, and blog posts. When something changes after publication, I add a dated update box instead of quietly editing the text.
Flatbard is independent. As a Statamic Partner, I build client sites with Statamic, but Statamic has no say in what I write here, and nobody pays for articles.
